2007 GREYHOUND PETS OF AMERICA NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP

“Rox, the handsome fawn greyhound, had run his last race.  Proud of his career as a racer, he hesitantly entered the adoption kennel wondering what lie ahead.  Tired and scared, he laid down in his new crate.  What he didn’t know was that soon, very soon, the Greyhound Pets of America volunteers would introduce him to the loving arms of Amy who would give him his forever home where he would love unconditionally and be loved for the rest of his days.”

Greyhound Pets of America is a national tax-exempt, non-profit corporation founded in 1987 for the purpose of finding homes for ex-racing greyhounds and educating the public on the suitability and availability of greyhounds as pets.  Since 1987, GPA has adopted over 70,000 greyhounds into loving homes.

Possibly, one or more these marvelous dogs grace your life right now.  Or, in the future you may consider adopting one.  In any case, you can help the thousands of greyhounds needing homes by becoming a member of Greyhound Pets of America. 

Your membership will help us continue many of the important programs GPA sponsors:

• General Grants - dollars are provided to chapters for trailers, vans, kennel improvements, fencing, etc.
• Emily Griffin Memorial Injury Fund - dollars are provided to chapters for medical bills for greyhounds injured on the track.  Most of these are broken hocks and legs requiring surgical repair.
• Disaster Funds - dollars are provided to chapters for immediate aid in case of hurricanes, fires, etc.  Following Hurricane Katrina, GPA sent $5000.00 to feed not only greyhounds in adoption kennels but also the devastated racing kennels that had no available food.
• Greyhound Race Track Closings - dollars are needed for food, kennel help, transportation and medical.  $37,000 has helped greyhounds in the last two years at track closings in Plainfield, CT, Geneva Lakes, WI and Juarez Mexico.  $13,000 was dispersed immediately for greyhounds at Plainfield for getting spays/neuters underway.
• No Greyhounds Left Behind - dollars are provided to this committee for efforts to increase greyhound adoption programs throughout the country where there are no greyhound adoption groups of any affiliation.
